My day job entails a great deal of web/ajax work, so I subscribe to a great many blogs on such topics. Every once in a while, I see a post that is not only interesting in the context of my "billable" work, but could possibly have interesting implications for my C:SI work as well.
Today’s example is an article on Ajaxian about a javascript library that measures a "finger print" based on your typing style. I believe that the idea essentially entails measuring the timing of your typing and allows you to correlate those results to check for similarity to past tests.
While I’ve discussed somewhat similar ideas before, this idea is conceptually simpler, and I believe that it has direct application to the problems that a few people are currently reporting with the Taketori Katana.
What I’m wondering is, if I could create a similar "fingerprinting" script in LSL, could I use that to verify that the Taketori is doing what it should be doing, and doing it consistently? If I added that script to some generic attachment and provided it to those people who are reporting issues, might I be able to gather more in-depth information without the ambiguity of relying on descriptions or having to "watch and guess"?
It’s just an idea that popped in my head. I’m gonna let it brew in there while I’m supposed to be working, and see what comes of it.

Funny you mention this cuz I had a cool video idea that I have *no idea* how to do. What I thought of was if it was possible to capture keypresses during a spar and overlay them on an on-screen keyboard during a spar.
Like small icons for A, W, S, D, E, C, and Mousebutton show up on the screen and hilite as you hit keys on the keyboard. So when recording video of a spar the person watching can see *exactly* what keys you hit when and what each keypress does thru the eyes of the avie.

Well… I can think of how to do that. Remember the idea for a HUD with big numbers? I could do a HUD that displayed the keystrokes in a similar fashion…
I don’t know if this is what you wanted, but I dropped you a display that will show pressed keys in green, unpressed keys in red.
It’s full perms, so feel free to change it to your heart’s content, or share it with others.
Disclaimer : This is 5 minutes worth of coding, and is not only *not* my best work, but is horribly inefficient, ugly, and may eat all of the cheese in your house.
Woah…awesome! XD I was just in the middle of typing a “don’t stress over making it” reply when I saw yer inventory offer come into my Gmail. LOL I’ll check it out tonite and maybe it’ll finally get me to get off my butt and learn more LSL.
Thankies!
