I couldn’t have said it better myself

The MeraTalk blog has a short and sweet post today that humorously highlights how Second Life is not only failing to scale to high concurrency, but has actually gotten worse in the last year despite the infamous assertion that Second Life could easily scale to 100,000 concurrent users.  Well, maybe not a failure in this case so much as a "giving up".

You should go read it :)

When I saw that on the blog I got to say I wondered about the financial condition of Linden Labs. If they currently lack the hardware to scale without “disabling logins” and such shit, is it because they have significant “resource constraints”?

There’s a great deal that I am wondering about the financial and internal condition of Linden Lab lately. I do hope they pull out of what appears to be a rapid spiral, since I enjoy Second Life and hope to be able to continue enjoying it for a long time.

Awesome timing, Malachi, I was just reading a related article on Massively on that same topic.

My wife has seen bots using these avatar names, with information in their profiles that states that they are automated testing bots, and I think this is very encouraging indeed!

I think that is a tremendously smart move for LL to start using bots for automated unit tests!
