<blockquote>In other words, I sincerely hope you enjoy your mini-vacation and that you will continue to be a presence in SL for quite some time to come. It’s a better metaverse with you in it, Robby.</blockquote>

Why thank you, Naeko! That's one of the nicest things anyone's said to me :)

I guess this is my main point : I am a professional software developer too, with almost two decades of experience, so I *know* that it's not all the Linden developer's fault. I had a supervisor tell me once "you know you are responsible for most of the bugs on this project?", to which the only reply I could think of was "Yeah, but I wrote 80% of the code on this project". Bugs are *ABSOLUTELY* inevitable, and the bigger the project, the more bugs there are and the more likely that they will have broad exposure and high risk.

It's just that I think I'm getting overly irritated at something that, on balance, really only affects a small part of my life, and basing my attitude (and blog posts) from an emotional stance that's not grounded in reality.

I can tell you from personal experience sometimes its good to do something different. And often times I do something completely out of the house, or just don't log onto the net for a couple of days when I get like that. Luckily for me though, with the spring here, and summer around the corner activities outside of the house will pick up and my digital stress level will be quite minimal.

I can't quite relate to the significant percentage of decrease in sales that some experience during these problematic periods. Then again, my sales volume has never been exceedingly high though I have managed to roughly break even most months. However, I can say that these problems have left me wondering about the future viability of SL's economy on many levels. It is certainly difficult to make firm plans regarding future products, as well as slowing down the development of current ones, when I can't be certain anyone will ever be able to purchase them.

That being said, I am somewhat optimistic about the whole situation. I'm not privy to the sorts of information that might lead me to believe otherwise (assuming it was true), and so I look to past examples. These current issues, while extremely annoying to small bussiness such as mine, pale in comparison with the problems that have plauged the grid in the past. Many - though, admittedly not all - of those problems were resolved in good time, and SL is without doubt a much better place than it was a year ago.

Time will tell how these issues are handled, and the response will be judged accordingly. I just hope that these issues are not indicative of deeper, and more difficult, problems.

In other words, I sincerely hope you enjoy your mini-vacation and that you will continue to be a presence in SL for quite some time to come. It's a beter metaverse with you in it, Robby.

*hugs*

@Malachi -

I doubt the grid will be at all better in any respect, and I fear that it will actually be much worse, but I'm hoping that the break will make me more resistant and less childish and pissy about the whole deal :)

@Kasumi -

Hey thanks! Actually, it probably won't delay me significantly. The fact is, at least 50% of what I do to create a sword happens offline, and based on some recent thoughts I've had and some discussion with Malachi and others, I've got a ton of scripting I can do toward that end without being in SL to feel the frustration :)

I can't quit coding, it seems. It's one of those few things I really love in life, and I haven't gone more than 5 days without writing code in the last 10 years (and those 5 days were on a cruise ship with my wife).

Thanks for the compliments on the anims, too! I've still got a couple to do. I want to completely redo my drawing/sheathing anims, as the old ones really just suck. Plus I wanna add a draw/sheath anim for those that like to wear the sheath in the left hand.

Hey Robby.

Sorry to hear how much the recent problems with SL have been effecting you. I hope the week is a helpful break for you and that *crosses finger, toes, eyes, hair etc* when you come back the grid will be a bit more stable.

Ravi showed me how the new sword you are working on and I was really impressed by it. The animations looked very very cool. I hope SL doesn't make you delay releasing it, I was kinda looking forward to that one coming soon =(
