Animations are hard

Haven’t been in-world much lately, because when I can spare some time from my hectic RL schedule, I’ve been spending my SL time making new animations for a new C:SI-compatible product. Unfortunately for me, making animations is the thing I am weakest at :(

Eyana’s Ninja HUD Released

Eyana Yohkoh’s Blog: Eyana’s Ninja HUD Released

I went and got this as soon as I found out about it, and spent some time playing with it. Some of the functions (like the caltrops) are probably not something that I’m likely to use a lot, but the water walking is awesome(!!!) and the jump assist is now a “gotta have”. Also worth noting is that this HUD takes up fairly little screen real-estate when you are not actively clicking on things, expanding and collapsing as needed.

She’s taken some ideas that I’ve seen before, and made a pretty good spin on them, such as the “escape to camera location” function (I forgot the actual name used in the HUD). This is somewhat similar to other products I’ve seen, but done very well and perfectly themed for ninja RP.

I’m not terribly into RP in Second Life, but if I was then I’d absolutely call this product a must-have. And even though I’m not into RP much, I’m still recommending it to all my friends.

Great job, Eyana!

Kasumi Hashi

Kasumi Hashi has a blog now! In her inagaural post, she talks about What is C:SI, Second Life, and Why Bother Blogging About Them?

It’s good reading as always, and I’m looking forward to seeing what she has to say over time; if what she has written on the C:SI forums is any indication, then we can all hope to get some great insights and tips.

Official SL Forums - QOTD

Here is the best quote I’ve seen on the official SL forums so far today:

Elex Dusk: Well, I see a lot of muddled thinking. We can’t make people think logically and the best we can do is point out where the argument breaks down or crashes against some aspect of the Terms of Service, Community Standards, etc. People introduce anecdotal evidence or make self-promotional claims regarding their own potential handling of a situation. People demand sympathy regarding situations that were entirely under their own control. People state what they personally believe as if it should somehow trump an existing rule or guideline. People insist on a one-way exclusion. A number of threads seem to arise over a jammed Impatience Gear.

It’s a mixed bag.
