This sword comes with free updates for life.   For this reason, it is sold with mod/copy/transfer permissions.   I will try to help you if you have any issues with the sword, but I cannot offer refunds.

If you modify or remove any of the contents of this sword, it will no longer function.   I will not provide technical support or replacements for swords damaged in this manner, so please don’t do it.

I am deeply honored to be allowed to create weapons compatible with the Samurai Island Combat System, and I have a strong commitment to those who have allowed me this honor.   I will not therefore accept any commissions for or perform custom work on combat weapons.  I will not provide any means, scripts, or information to make your weapons work with the C:SI combat system.

Please remember that this weapon is intended to be used as a fun part of a cooperative melee combat community.   This weapon was not designed to be a griefing tool, and should not be used as such.

EQUIPPING THE SWORD

Locate the sword "Wave Katana V2.0.3 (Combat Version 1.5)" in your inventory.   Right-click the sword and select "Wear".   The sword will be attached to your right hand.   This sword will not function on any other attachment point, so while you may attach a sword to your left hand, for looks for instance, it will not function when attached there.

Locate the sheath in the same folder as the sword, it will be named "Wave Katana V2.0.3 (Sheathed)".  Right-click the sheath and select "Wear".  The default attachment point is the spine.  If you already have a spine attachment, you may also attach the sword to the chest, left pectoral, right pectoral, stomach, left hip, pelvis, left upper leg.  The sheath will attempt to position itself correctly based on the attachment point you choose, but will probably still need adjustment for your particular avatar’s shape and dimensions.

Locate the "C:SI Circle HUD V1.1.4" (or similarly named) item in your inventory, and select "Wear".  When you first unpack your sword, it will not come with the C:SI HUD.  A C:SI HUD will be automatically sent to you within moments of rezzing the product box, and will arrive separate from the sword and sheath.

DRAWING/SHEATHING THE SWORD

There are two ways to draw the sword :

1. Click on the sheath
2. Activate and use the "Sheath Sword" and "Draw Sword" gestures included with the sword.  These will be in the same folder as the sword and sheath.

CONTROLS

While the sword is not drawn or is not in combat mode, it will not affect your movement controls.

To get into combat mode, click and hold the left button on the mouse while the sword is drawn.  You must do this while the mouse pointer is on the ground, sky, or other non-clickable object.   If the mouse is on an avatar or a clickable object, the sword will not go into combat mode.  Combat mode will be indicated by your avatar getting into a "ready" stance with the sword held out front in both
hands.

While in combat mode, pressing any of the normal movement keys will perform an attack instead of moving. For kicks, the Back or ‘S’ key is used.  Similarly for forward attacks the Forward key, for left attacks the left key, and so on.

To block, press the Crouch or ‘C’ key.  While blocking, an opponents strikes will do less or no damage, and your opponent will be temporarily stunned when he strikes you.  Keep in mind that kicks can still cause half damage when an opponent is blocking.  Blocking an attack causes you to use up a small amount of stamina.  When your stamina is gone or less than 10 points, you will no longer be able to block.

The Wave Katana also has a "Special Attack" that can be triggered while in combat mode by pressing the ‘E’ or Jump key two or three times.  This attack causes massive amounts of damage, often enough to end a fight, but also takes a while to "charge up".  Special Attacks cannot be blocked, but are balanced by the requirement of having to spend 60 points of stamina.

It is important that you make sure that you do not have your chat bar open when fighting, because the Second Life viewer tends to send all keystrokes to the chat bar instead of the sword while the chat bar is open.  You can close the chat bar manually or select the "Close chat after hitting return" option in Preferences to make this process smoother.

CUSTOMIZATION

Some aspects of the sword’s appearance may be customized by the user.   To bring up the customization menu, click on the sword while it is drawn and in your avatar’s hand.

Options that may be changed include whether the tsuba is visible or not, the color of the sheath, handle, decals, blade trail, and belt ties.

AUTOMATIC UPDATES

Whenever a new version of this sword is released, all owners of previous versions are eligible for free updates.  When you attach the sword, it will automatically check to see whether a newer version is available.  If a new version is available it will be sent to you by the update server.  You must then unpack this new version and equip all components as outlined above.  Please note that the update does not magically update the version you are currently wearing, you must wear and equip the new version that gets sent to you.

COMBAT HUD

Your Combat HUD will prove to be very useful to you in your battles.  It will report your current health and stamina to you, as well as let you listen in on the combat announcer, which will announce player kills.  The green audio button can be toggled on and off to turn combat announcements on and off. (Announcer only works in the presence of a scoreboard)  Clicking on the large yellow button will open your map and point to the location of the Samurai Island Combat Zone.
